Business Central for E-Commerce & Wholesale

Business Central connects your online store, warehouse and finance in one system, so orders, stock and margins stay in step across every channel. We implement it for UK e-commerce brands and wholesale distributors.

Our Business Central Services

TrueVantage is a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central partner for UK small and mid-market businesses. We implement Business Central, help you choose the right licences and support it after go-live.

How Business Central fits E-commerce & Wholesale businesses

Common challenges in e-commerce and wholesale

  • Stock that doesn’t match. Your web store, marketplaces and warehouse each show a different number.
  • Manual order entry. Online and EDI orders re-keyed into the accounts system.
  • Pricing sprawl. Customer-specific prices, discounts and promotions kept in spreadsheets.
  • Slow month-end. Payouts, refunds and fees from payment providers and marketplaces reconciled by hand.

Business Central capabilities that fit

  • Shopify Connector. Microsoft’s own connector syncs products, stock, customers and orders between Shopify and Business Central.
  • Price lists and discounts. Customer, customer group and campaign pricing, with start and end dates.
  • Item variants and units of measure. Sizes, colours and pack sizes on a single item.
  • Warehouse management. Bins, directed put-away and pick, and warehouse shipments for higher volumes.
  • Drop shipments and special orders. Suppliers ship straight to your customers, with the purchase and sales orders linked.
  • Returns. Sales return orders and credit memos linked back to the original sale.
  • Multi-currency and intercompany. Sell in several currencies and run separate trading companies with consolidation.

All of this is covered by the Essentials licence; Premium is only needed if you also manufacture. See Business Central licences for Microsoft’s current UK prices.

Integrations we typically scope

  • Shopify through Microsoft’s connector; other platforms, such as Adobe Commerce or WooCommerce, through AppSource connectors or middleware
  • Marketplaces such as Amazon through AppSource connectors
  • EDI with retailers and suppliers
  • Third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses and carrier shipping software
  • Payment providers and bank feeds for faster reconciliation
  • Power BI for channel, product and customer margin reporting

Not every business needs all of these. We agree what’s in scope during discovery; for a first estimate, try our Business Central cost calculator, and see how we run a Business Central implementation. After go-live, Business Central managed support keeps the system in step as your business changes.

Designed With Your Finance Team

Our team includes finance- and accounting-experienced consultants, so your chart of accounts, dimensions, approvals and reporting are designed around how you close the month, not bolted on afterwards.

Support After Go-Live

We don't hand over and walk away. After go-live, Business Central managed support covers user help, fixes, improvements and Microsoft's twice-yearly updates.

Not Sure Business Central Is Right for You?

TrueVantage is also a certified NetSuite partner. Our vendor-neutral approach means we'll recommend the platform that genuinely fits your business — even if that means NetSuite is the better choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Business Central integrate with Shopify?

Yes. Microsoft provides a Shopify Connector for Business Central that syncs products, prices, stock, customers and orders. We configure it and agree which system owns each piece of data.

Can Business Central handle B2B and B2C pricing together?

Yes. Price lists let you set customer-specific, customer group and campaign prices alongside your standard prices.

Do wholesale businesses need Business Central Premium?

Usually not. Sales, purchasing, inventory and warehouse management are all in Essentials. Premium is only needed for manufacturing or service order management.

Can Business Central work with our 3PL?

Yes, through an integration that sends shipment instructions and receives confirmations and stock levels. The approach depends on what your 3PL supports, which we confirm during discovery.

How do we handle marketplace and payment provider fees?

We design how payouts, fees and refunds post to the ledger, using integrations or bank reconciliation rules, so month-end doesn't depend on manual matching.
